The Ceramic Road in Tuscia

The Ceramic Road in Tuscia: an original tour allowing visitors to get to know the history, culture and beauty of a vast territory, of which ceramic art has been a hallmark for centuries.

Our journey will take us through the province of Viterbo, starting in the  south and moving north. We will visit the four towns recognised as ‘of ancient and established ceramic production’ by the National Ceramic Council – a body of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. These four towns are Civita Castellana, Viterbo, Tarquinia and Acquapendente.

Visitors will be surprised by the richness and heritage of the forms, decorations, styles and techniques preserved in the museums, as well as by the numerous testimonies to the intimate link between the towns and ceramics.

Participants will enjoy unique experiences in craft workshops and art studios. Here we will meet men and women who hand down knowledge, gestures and memories and, at the same time, contribute to the evolution of ceramics with passionate research and experimentation. They will captivate visitors with their mastery in shaping the raw materials and executing the decorations, in giving life to extraordinary works.

Together, we will discover, through ceramics, the slow pace of evocative town centres.
